Friedman Kaplan is proud to announce the promotions of Elizabeth Bierut and David Ranzenhofer to counsel. “Liz and Dave have distinguished themselves through their hard work, superb client service, and their dedication to the firm and its culture, and we are thrilled to recognize their important contributions with these well-deserved promotions,” said Management Committee member Jeffrey Wang.

Elizabeth Bierut represents clients in complex litigation and investigations, including actions arising under the securities laws and common law, bankruptcy law, commercial business disputes, internal investigations, and white collar matters. She counsels public and private companies in the healthcare, financial services, real estate, retail, fintech, and other industries on diverse issues and claims, including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, securities fraud, and antitrust.  She has extensive experience with all stages of litigation, including motion practice, discovery, trial, and appeals, and regularly counsels clients pre-litigation concerning the strengths and weaknesses of claims and defenses, and the best tactical path forward. She is a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s 2022 class of Fellows. Prior to joining Friedman Kaplan in 2020, Liz was a litigation associate at Ropes & Gray LLP and clerked for the Honorable Shira A. Scheindlin in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Fordham Law School and received her undergraduate degree, with honors, from Swarthmore College.

David Ranzenhofer represents major public and private companies as well as individuals in the financial services and other industries in connection with complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts and in arbitration, as well as in connection with government and internal investigations and white collar matters. Prior to joining Friedman Kaplan in 2016, Dave was a litigation associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
