Friedman Kaplan Partner Mary E. Mulligan Appointed to Civilian Complaint Review Board

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg has appointed Friedman Kaplan partner Mary E. Mulligan to the New York City Civilian Complaint Review Board. The CCRB is an independent city agency established in 1993 to receive, investigate, hear, make findings, and recommend action on complaints against New York City police officers that allege the use of excessive or unnecessary force, abuse of authority, discourtesy, or the use of offensive language. The thirteen-member CCRB, which is the largest civilian oversight agency in the United States, consists of five members designated by the New York City Council (one from each borough), five members designated by the Mayor, and three members designated by the Police Commissioner. Ms. Mulligan has been designated by the Mayor to serve a three-year term beginning August 12, 2009.
