Beaumont Discusses LIBOR Transition and SEC Data Collection in ACA Insight

January 6, 2020

Friedman Kaplan litigation partner Anne Beaumont was quoted extensively in two articles in ACA Compliance Group’s January 6, 2020 issue of ACA Insight.

In the first article, which discusses the outlook for investment management firms in the year ahead, Ms. Beaumont talked about potentially challenging market conditions to come as well as the increased regulatory focus on LIBOR transition. About LIBOR transition, she noted, “[m]ore is likely to come from the SEC, possibly an exam sweep,” and also said, “The agency moved the LIBOR transition front and center with its [July 2019 staff] statement, so even though LIBOR’s not going away until the end of 2021, there will be movement.”

In the second article, which discussed a recent speech by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce regarding the SEC’s data collection initiatives, Beaumont said, “If we want them to have deep knowledge of the markets [they regulate], they need information about them, but there’s a difference between information – meaningful, actionable information – and data.”
