Friedman Kaplan Adds Renowned Litigator Lawrence Robbins to Partnership

August 23, 2022

Friedman Kaplan proudly announces that Lawrence S. Robbins has joined the firm as a partner effective August 23, 2022. Mr. Robbins’ work includes sophisticated, high-stakes complex commercial litigation and bankruptcy litigation, as well as high-profile white collar and investigations representations, including appeals. A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, he has an active trial and appellate practice and will argue his 20th case before the U.S. Supreme Court in November 2022.

In addition, Mr. Robbins has a longstanding pro bono practice which has involved representing high-profile individuals in government hearings, including Dr. Christine Blasey Ford before the Senate Judiciary Committee and Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch before the House Impeachment Committee.

Mr. Robbins was a founding partner of Robbins, Russell, Englert, Orseck & Untereiner LLP, which for two decades was one of the most highly regarded trial and appellate firms in the country. Prior to that, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, an Assistant to the U.S. Solicitor General, and an Associate Independent Counsel, and was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Mayer Brown LLP.

“Larry is highly accomplished and widely renowned, bringing to our firm not only his stellar reputation as a preeminent lawyer, but also an exciting and multi-faceted litigation practice that will be an excellent complement to our existing litigation and white collar practices,” said Management Committee member Anne E. Beaumont. “As a founder of another elite boutique firm, Larry understands and appreciates the practice and culture we’ve built at Friedman Kaplan. We are delighted that he has chosen to join our firm.”

“I am thrilled to be joining the partnership at Friedman Kaplan, a firm I have worked alongside multiple times over the years and whose lawyers I have always held in the utmost regard,” commented Mr. Robbins. “Friedman Kaplan has extremely smart, talented, and creative attorneys, sophisticated clients, and an entrepreneurial spirit, and I look forward to contributing to its continued success.”
