Christopher Colorado Presents to the American Bar Asssciation on Digital Currency Regulatory and Civil Litigation Trends

Friedman Kaplan partner Christopher Colorado on June 27 participated in an American Bar Association Section of Litigation panel entitled Virtual Currency: Current Regulatory and Civil Litigation Trends.  Mr. Colorado was joined by co-panelists Usman M. Sheikh, a partner with Gowling WLG and National Head of the firm's Blockchain & Smart Contracts Group, and Monica Harris, an associate with Greenberg Traurig LLP and Co-Chair of Young Lawyers and White Collar/Corporate Investigations Subcommittees of the ABA Securities Litigation Committee.

The panelists spoke to the audience concerning the basics of blockchain technology and its features and benefits, the ways in which it can be applied to capital markets, the response the technology has gotten from regulators such as the SEC, CFTC, DOJ, FINRA, OFAC, FinCen, and the IRS, and what to expect looking forward in terms of further regulations, enforcement and litigation.  Their full presentation can be found on the ABA website.
