Partner Hallie Levin Elected Vice President of the New York City Bar Association

May 18, 2016

At the Annual Meeting of the New York City Bar on May 17, it was announced that Friedman Kaplan partner Hallie Levin will serve as one of three Vice Presidents of the New York City Bar. Her fellow Vice Presidents include Sheila S. Boston of Kaye Scholer LLP and Roger Maldonado of Balber Pickard Maldonado & Van Der Tuin PC.

Ms. Levin assumes the role of Vice President after serving as the Chair of the City Bar's Executive Committee for the last year.  During her tenure, among other activities, the Executive Committee reviewed and rated candidates for two vacancies in the New York State Court of Appeals as well as the nominee to the US Supreme Court, issued a policy statement calling for the end to the era of Mass Incarceration in the United States and created a Task Force on that critical issue, reviewed and approved the Association's Operating and Capital budgets for the coming fiscal year, and considered and approved administrative changes to its pension plan.

"It has been a privilege to serve as Chair of the Executive Committee of the City Bar, and I am profoundly honored to be elected Vice President of this inspired and inspiring organization," says Ms. Levin.

The City Bar will be led by John S. Kiernan, who has been elected its 67th President. He is a partner at the law firm of Debevoise & Plimpton.
