Summer Associate Program

Our summer associate program offers law students with excellent credentials the opportunity to become integrally involved in a sophisticated practice, to work in a collegial environment, and to explore an alternative to big-firm life.

Each summer, approximately four summer associates join the firm to experience what life is like as a lawyer at Friedman Kaplan. Our summer associates are free to choose to concentrate in litigation or corporate practice, although many choose to pursue both areas. Each summer associate has two partner mentors. These mentors ensure that their summer associate gains valuable insight into the actual practice of law by participating fully in the mentors' cases and transactions, and by attending closings, depositions, and court appearances with partners and associates throughout the firm. Summer associates who join the firm after graduation are offered a compensation and benefits package that is competitive with that of other leading New York firms. We conduct on-campus interviews at several law schools as well as interview selected applicants who submit their resumes and transcripts. Hal Neier, one of our hiring partners, and Kimberly Baez, our recruiting coordinator, supervise the summer program.

Our recent summer associates have come from Chicago, Columbia, Georgetown, Harvard, Michigan, NYU, Penn, Stanford, Virginia, and Yale.

It is the policy and practice of Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all persons without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or disability.
