Law Clerk Recruiting We seek lawyers with many of the same qualities that judges seek in their clerks, including outstanding academic achievement and strong personal character. As a small, young, and aggressive firm, we believe that we offer new associates opportunities that are seldom available to their classmates at the large New York law firms. Our associates participate in every aspect of each matter -- meeting with clients, negotiating corporate transactions, taking depositions, writing briefs, arguing motions, and conducting trials. Our policy of full participation for associates carries over into firm governance and decisionmaking. We believe that such involvement is an important component of professional development. Since the inception of the firm, many of Friedman Kaplan's attorneys have been former law clerks to federal judges. As can be seen in the listing by clerkship in the Our Lawyers section of our web site, our attorneys have clerked for judges in numerous courts throughout the country, including the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fourth, and Fifth Circuits and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Not surprisingly, many of the skills honed as a law clerk -- including a focus on thorough legal analysis, attention to factual detail, clear written expression, and working in conjunction with colleagues -- assist the firm's lawyers in their practice. Law clerks seeking an alternative to big-firm practice -- without sacrificing sophisticated clients and matters, or competitive compensation and benefits -- often turn to Friedman Kaplan. Our litigation hiring partner is Hal Neier, and our corporate hiring partner is David I. Tanenbaum. It is the policy and practice of Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all persons without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or disability. |
