Lateral Recruiting We seek lawyers with outstanding academic achievement combined with personal qualities that demonstrate exceptional ability, motivation, and potential for growth. As a small, young, and aggressive firm, we offer junior associates at larger firms an alternative environment with an equally sophisticated practice. Our associates participate in every aspect of each matter -- meeting with clients, negotiating corporate transactions, taking depositions, writing briefs, arguing motions, and conducting trials. This policy of full participation for associates carries over into firm governance and decisionmaking. We believe that such involvement is an important component of professional development. As can be seen in the listing by lateral source in the Our Lawyers section of our web site, many of our attorneys joined Friedman Kaplan after starting their careers at large firms in New York and other cities. Attorneys make the move for several reasons -- to gain more hands-on experience; to work in a smaller, more collegial environment; and to increase their impact on the matters they handle. For attorneys seeking a sophisticated litigation or corporate practice and rapid professional development, we offer an excellent alternative to large-firm practice, while still offering our associates a compensation and benefits package that is competitive with that of the largest New York firms. Our litigation hiring partner is Hal Neier; our corporate hiring partner is David I. Tanenbaum; and our financial restructuring and insolvency hiring partner is William P. Weintraub. Applications for lateral positions, and inquiries about opportunities at the firm, should be addressed to the firm's recruiting coordinator, Kimberly Baez. It is the policy and practice of Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP to provide equal employment and advancement opportunities to all persons without regard to race, sex, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, marital or parental status, or disability. |
