FKSA Honored by NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. has honored Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP for the pro bono legal services the firm has provided to the civil rights organization. At the LDF's annual board of directors dinner, held January 25, 2001 in Manhattan, LDF president Elaine Jones thanked Friedman Kaplan for its legal assistance over the past five years. Lawrence Newman, a prominent estate planning attorney and professor of trusts and estates at Columbia Law School, was also honored for his work on behalf of the LDF. Mr. Newman, who has a consulting relationship with Friedman Kaplan, introduced the firm to the LDF in 1995. Since that time, litigation partners Edward A. Friedman and Hal Neier have worked on a variety of legal matters for the LDF, relating mostly to contested gifts and bequests intended for the Fund. |
