Weintraub to Speak on ABI Panel on Ethical Issues in Bankruptcy FKSA partner William P. Weintraub will participate in a panel discussion at the American Bankruptcy Institute's 2012 spring meeting regarding ethical issues that arise in counseling clients in bankruptcy matters. The panel, titled "Navigating Ethical Responsibility in a Complex World," will discuss a variety of complex issues, including representing multiple debtors, closely held corporations and portfolio companies of an equity sponsor client; dealing with conflicted boards or insiders who do not have separate counsel; counseling a client who demands questionable strategies and tactics; and dealing with a deadlocked board that paralyzes the debtor's decision-making. The panel will be held at 9:30 a.m. on April 21, 2012 as part of the ABI's four-day annual spring meeting at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. James Patrick Shea of Shea & Carlyon, Ltd. will serve as the moderator, and other speakers will include Professor Nancy B. Rapoport of the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Bradley D. Sharp of Development Specialists, Inc. The ABI is the largest multi-disciplinary, non-partisan organization dedicated to research and education on matters related to insolvency. It was founded in 1982 to provide Congress and the public with unbiased analysis of bankruptcy issues. The ABI's membership includes more than 13,000 attorneys, judges, lenders, professors, and other bankruptcy professionals, providing a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. |
