Fourmaux, Rubinstein Elected Litigation Partners Jeffrey C. Fourmaux and Jason C. Rubinstein have been elected partners in Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP, effective January 1, 2012. Both litigators, they represent clients as plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial disputes in federal and state courts and arbitration tribunals. Mr. Fourmaux's practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, creditors' rights, mergers and acquisitions, securities, and ERISA litigation, and regulatory investigations. His current and recent matters include representation of distressed-debt investors against defaulted issuers and their stockholders in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts, defense of Wells Fargo & Co. in a suit brought by Citigroup over the acquisition of Wachovia Corp., and representation of a union president in a dispute over the dissolution of a merger between two labor unions and the ownership of more than $200 million of assets brought by the client's union to the merger. Mr. Fourmaux graduated with a B.A. summa cum laude in philosophy and a B.S. cum laude in physics from Tulane University in 1992. He received his law degree cum laude in 1999 from New York University School of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the New York University Law Review. After law school, Mr. Fourmaux served as a law clerk to The Honorable David G. Trager of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He previously practiced at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz LLP. Mr. Rubinstein represents plaintiffs and defendants in complex business and financial litigation and arbitration, in matters involving claims of common law and securities fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, legal malpractice, and antitrust law violations, as well as in employment disputes. Mr. Rubinstein's recent matters include defending a prominent distressed-debt and special-situations fund in an arbitration challenging the enforceability of its retention compensation arrangements, representing a major wireless services provider in antitrust litigation arising from an alleged price-fixing cartel in LCD panels, and defending an indenture trustee against claims relating to its sale of certain CDO assets. Mr. Rubinstein graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 2000 and received his law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2003. He served as a law clerk to The Honorable Albert M. Rosenblatt of the New York Court of Appeals from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Rubinstein is a member of the New York City Bar Association's Standing Committee on LGBT Rights. He previously practiced at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. |
