Lack Speaks on "Liability Hot Buttons" at Auditing Conference

FKSA litigation partner Robert J. Lack spoke on "Liability Hot Buttons" at "Ensuring Integrity: Fifth Annual Auditing Conference" held at the Zicklin School of Business, Baruch College of The City University of New York, on December 2, 2010. The conference provides a forum for interaction among the business, public accounting, and academic communities and policy setters from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB). It also examines the current best practices of ethics and independence within the auditing profession. The conference is organized in partnership with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy's Center for the Public Trust.

Mr. Lack discussed auditing "red flags," professional skepticism, and the auditor's responsibility in the detection of fraud on a panel that included Barrie Prinz, Associate General Counsel of Deloitte & Touche, Scott Univer, General Counsel of WeiserMazars, and Michael Young, a partner at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. The panel was moderated by Douglas Carmichael, Eli and Claire Mason Professor of Accountancy at Baruch College and former Chief Auditor for the PCAOB.
