On March 9, 2010, FKSA partner Eric Corngold will speak at the 11th Annual International Conference on Private Investment Funds, co-sponsored by the International Bar Association and the American Bar Association. The conference will examine the current market and future of private investment funds, and will cover a variety of topics, including U.S. and European Union regulatory initiatives, the impact of illiquidity on private funds, and U.S. and European tax issues. Mr. Corngold will participate in a panel titled "Pay-to-play practices," which will discuss, among other things, new legal theories that prosecutors are using against pay-to-play practices, new federal and state pay-to-play rules, and best practices for establishing a compliance program. The panel will be moderated by Ki Hong of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP, and the other panelists are Jeff Garfield from the Connecticut State Elections Enforcement Commission and Jenna Victoriano of Credit Suisse.
