Our Firm

Friedman Kaplan Seiler & Adelman LLP was founded in 1986 in the belief that a small group of talented and dedicated lawyers could provide legal services with the quality and responsiveness demanded by the most sophisticated clients. Our firm has adhered to that approach. As a result, we continue to attract excellent lawyers to join our firm, and to represent clients in important litigation and corporate engagements.

Our Lawyers

Our greatest strength is the quality of our people. Our attorneys have attended the finest colleges and law schools in the country, and many of them were law review editors or held prestigious federal court clerkships after law school. Because we are extremely selective in recruiting, we typically hire only a handful of new lawyers each year. This deliberate growth has allowed us to maintain the high caliber of our legal personnel.

Our Practice

Our litigation group handles cases in areas such as complex commercial litigation, securities (including hedge funds), bankruptcy litigation, employment litigation, accountants' liability, insurance, media-related litigation, and white-collar criminal defense and investigations. Our corporate department represents clients in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, debt and equity financings, private equity, securities, and commercial transactions, employment arrangements, and cross-border transactions. With offices in New York City and Newark, New Jersey, we litigate in federal and state courts and before arbitral tribunals throughout the country, and advise clients in both domestic and international corporate transactions.

Our Clients

Many of our clients are large well-known companies that are leaders in their industries -- in telecommunications, financial services, consumer products, media, and others. We also represent privately held firms, individuals, not-for-profit organizations, foreign corporations with interests in the United States, and international joint ventures. Many of our clients are accustomed to retaining large law firms, but retain us because they wish to obtain the same high-quality legal work at a lower cost and with greater attention from senior lawyers.
