Anne E. Beaumont
Anne E. Beaumont's practice includes complex commercial litigation and financial services matters, with particular emphasis on litigation involving complex financial instruments such as swaps and derivatives and matters involving hedge funds, their managers, and their investors. Her recent matters include obtaining the pre-discovery dismissal of all claims against two senior executives of a collateral manager alleged to have participated in a scheme to defraud a secondary-market CDO investor; representing funds of hedge funds that invested in Madoff feeder funds in litigation against the funds' manager, parent, and auditor; representing a pair of hedge funds in litigation against their former prime broker; representing various clients in matters arising out of the Lehman bankruptcy; representing a hedge fund manager and certain of the funds that it managed in litigation against the funds' administrator and middle/back-office service provider; and representing more than ninety institutional investors, funds of funds, pension funds, and individuals who lost more than $580 million in the Lancer hedge funds in litigation against the funds' auditor, administrators, and prime broker/custodian. She also counsels and provides training to hedge fund managers, professionals, investors, and service providers on compliance, due diligence, and other issues.
Ms. Beaumont graduated with honors in 1988 from the University of California, Berkeley and magna cum laude in 1997 from New York University School of Law, where she was admitted to the Order of the Coif and received the Morton Geller Award, Paul D. Kaufman Memorial Award, Arthur Vanderbilt Medal, and Edward Weinfeld Prize. She served as a Staff Editor and a Note and Comment Editor of the N.Y.U. Law Review and is the author of Note, This Estoppel Has Got to Stop: Judicial Estoppel and the Americans with Disabilities Act, 71 N.Y.U. L. Rev. 1529 (1996). She previously practiced at Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP.
Ms. Beaumont serves on the Board of Directors of the New York Harbor Foundation. She also is a member of the New York City Bar and has served on its Standing Committees on International Law and International Human Rights and Task Force on International Legal Services.
Ms. Beaumont has been selected for inclusion by Law & Politics in Super Lawyers® 2011 New York Edition for having attained the highest degree of peer recognition and professional achievement in the multiphase Super Lawyers selection process which includes, among other factors, peer evaluation.
