Jeffrey C. Fourmaux
Jeffrey C. Fourmaux's complex commercial litigation practice focuses on creditors' rights, securities and ERISA litigation, regulatory investigations, and litigation arising in connection with mergers and acquisitions. His recent matters include the following:

Representation of distressed debt investors against defaulted issuers and their stockholders in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts;

Representation of Wells Fargo & Co. in a dispute with Citigroup over the acquisition of Wachovia Corp.; and

Representation of a union president in a dissolution of a merger between two labor unions and a dispute over more than $200 million of assets brought by our client's union to the merger.
Mr. Fourmaux's other matters have included the defense of Bausch & Lomb against securities fraud claims, which ended in the pre-trial dismissal of all claims (In re Bausch & Lomb, Inc. Sec. Litig., 592 F. Supp. 2d 323 (W.D.N.Y. 2008)) ; representation of targets and acquirers in the Delaware Court of Chancery and other courts related to challenged or failed merger agreements, including the proposed acquisitions of Huntsman Corp. by Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Caremark Rx by CVS, and Reckson Associates by SL Green; representation of a leading toy manufacturer in parallel litigation in the U.S. and Germany regarding intellectual property rights in a major product line; representations of Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Household International in securities, ERISA, and shareholder derivative actions; and representation of public companies in confidential S.E.C. investigations.
Mr. Fourmaux graduated with a B.A. summa cum laude in philosophy and a B.S. cum laude in physics from Tulane University in 1992. He received his law degree cum laude in 1999 from New York University School of Law, where he was a John Norton Pomeroy Scholar, a Benjamin F. Butler Scholar, and an Associate Editor of the New York University Law Review. After law school, Mr. Fourmaux served as a law clerk to The Honorable David G. Trager of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He previously practiced at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz LLP.
